Kinect 3d modeling

a simple mesh modeller that uses KINECTs depth perception and homemade data gloves for a more real world oriented user interaction in virtual 3d space.
realized only with open source software
PURE DATA, GEM, OpenNI, UBUNTU.
First try, but already pretty useable and a fun to play with.

Do yo want to scan a 3d model but you don´t have a 3d scanner?

Everyone say yes; sometimes we need to make a 3d model of something but there are complicated organic shapes in the world, when a CAD modeling isn´t enought,

Is scan time!, but all this machines are so expensive and difficult to use so here is when Hypr3D comes in and you can achive results like this:

The cool part is as you can see, it also take the textures, wireframe and the point cloud, additionally with only your browser you can spin, move and zoom your model.

Hypr3D is basically a free! (just sign up) application on the cloud that "anyone with a digital camera can create original 3D models that they can view online, share, download, or even print in 3D."

For upload you can use pictures or video, in this bicycle helmet i choose 30 seconds of video with my flipcam, but you don´t need a professional camera for this also you can use your phone, the resul t only change the detail and qualitty that you want, but i think that is close enought with one or other.

Also you can download a High Resolution Surface Mesh (STL) or HighResolution Point Cloud (PLY) or both and more extension files
.This one downloadable here: Bicycle helmet

Augmented City 3D

3d stereograph glasses needed for good watch

Augmented City 3D from Keiichi Matsuda on Vimeo.

The architecture of the contemporary city is no longer simply about the physical space of buildings and landscape, more and more it is about the synthetic spaces created by the digital information that we collect, consume and organise; an immersive interface may become as much part of the world we inhabit as the buildings around us.

Augmented Reality (AR) is an emerging technology defined by its ability to overlay physical space with information. It is part of a paradigm shift that succeeds Virtual Reality; instead of disembodied occupation of virtual worlds, the physical and virtual are seen together as a contiguous, layered and dynamic whole. It may lead to a world where media is indistinguishable from 'reality'. The spatial organisation of data has important implications for architecture, as we re-evaluate the city as an immersive human-computer interface.

Zebra Imaging ZScape Holographic Print: Net Engineering Hologram

These prints are made using a variety of 3D data sources — think AutoCad and the like — that are then rendered as thousands of holographic elements by recording laser light onto a single film-based material. The resulting images are easily viewed without glasses or spinning mirrors, and just require a run-of-the-mill halogen or LED light source to reveal 360-degree, full color representations — akin to what a physical model might look like. Fancier versions can also be made using overlays and layering techniques to show more information. (Engadget)

3D projection mapping in the city centre of Amsterdam for H&M

Whole show excellent use of 3D, it would be good for publicity.

On 22, 23 & 24 November 2010, H&M brought their flagship store in Amsterdam to live with a 3D projection mapping on the historic building. For over 3 minutes, guests and a gathered crowd enjoyed a surreal fairytale of light and magical effects. A red ribbon, wrapped around the building, untangles and transformed the building into a colorful dollhouse where nothing is what it seems.

DS Design Studio_Future of Design, 3D & Collaboration

The future of CAD, the sketchs still there, but with some augmented reallity, some voice recognition, some pure modeling, a lot of "dynamic touch edit",a high level of collaborative design, that is (sound and look simple)
